JWAS Foundation
www.jwas.orgThe mission of the Jaxson William Augustus Swank Foundation is to perpetuate Jaxson's loving memory in providing financial assistance to deserving individuals from preschool through college and to support each recipient in achieving their potential to obtain scholastic distinction while developing good moral character as a future leader. The JWAS Foundation currently has 16 Jaxson Scholars in 5 Michiana schools; Good Shepherd Montessori School, Holy Family, La Lumiere School, Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes, and The Stanley Clark School. The scholarship was created to honor the memory of Jaxson Swank who was taken from his family and friends just 1 month and 11 days short of his 2nd birthday in a tragic car accident in his driveway in December of 2004. All Jaxson Scholars and JWAS families are expected to attend at least 75% of our annual character and leadership development programming each year. Families must also be actively engaged at their child’s school and in their learning progress. Families are also expected to be sound moral examples of character while serving our community at large. Applications open each September. We typically accept 1 new Jaxson Scholar for each given year.
