Beyond Beans Foundation is dedicated to developing, organizing and implementing projects across ETG’s commodity supply chains in collaboration with other companies, NGOs and government agencies. We aim to boost innovation and deliver maximum benefits for the farming communities and landscapes that form the backbone of our rapidly expanding supply chains. We believe that the world of today has the knowledge, people, and tools in place to build profitable and self-sustaining cocoa communities, where farming is regarded as a respected profession and sustainable entrepreneurship is the norm. Beyond Beans aims to be a catalyst in achieving this vision, by connecting the right stakeholders and introducing innovative solutions from other sectors to the cocoa supply chain. To realize its vision, Beyond Beans focuses on the following four pillars: Skilled farmers: Providing the tools, technologies, inputs and skills that will empower smallholder farmers to turn their cocoa plantations into dynamic, profitable businesses Resilient communities: Delivering impactful community development initiatives at the farmer level, such as women’s empowerment, microloans and community-led savings associations, and addressing child labor A healthy environment: Leveraging community sensitization and nature-compatible agroforestry to achieve zero-deforestation cocoa production and reduce cocoa’s environmental footprint Solid partnerships: Establishing effective, cross-cutting cooperation with not-for-profit stakeholders, chocolate makers and government agencies to maximize impact.
