FoBiG - Forschungs- und Beratungsinstitut Gefahrstoffe GmbH

www.fobig.de

FoBiG is a privately owned consultancy specialised in regulatory (eco-)toxicology with more than 20 years of experience in toxicological risk assessment and exposure assessment. Our core competences include the qualitative and quantitative in-depth assessment of chemical substances (by dedicated literature searches, preparation of monographs, classification and labelling, derivation of reference values), provision of services with regard to the requirements of various regulatory areas (e.g. REACH, biocides, environmental contaminants), the analysis, development and improvement of risk assessment methods and exposure assessment. FoBiG is one of few consultancies in this area working for authorities (at the national and EU level) as well as for industry. This allows for a balanced view on tasks and facilitates searching for science- and evidence-based solutions. Acknowledging the limits of scientific methods and of our knowledge on the toxicological and environmental effects of chemical substances, we seek to achieve the highest possible transparency in our approaches. This means for any assessment to document in detail and in a reproducible manner the data used and the conclusions drawn. In accordance with our interdisciplinary project tasks, with overlapping topics coming from toxicology, ecotoxicology, chemistry and associated disciplines, our team is comprised of scientists from various disciplines (toxicology, chemistry, biology, pharmacy). Continuing education of all staff members (e.g. by attending DGPT courses in toxicology or educational courses in ecotoxicology at SETAC-GLB/GdCh, by attendance and contributions to conferences) is key to the successful completion of our manifold tasks.
