Sierra Foothill Conservancy

SFC conserves natural and family ranches and forests using conservation real estate strategies including conservation easements and fee title acquisitions. To date SFC has conserved over 41,000 acres of important lands through partnership with private landowners and agencies. A membership of over 2,100 support SFC's work which is conducted by staff members based in the eastern Fresno county and the Mariposa county. SFC is governed by a 13 member Board of Directors. SFC is an accredited member of The Land Trust Alliance, California Council of Land Trusts, Sierra Cascade Land Trust Council, and Sierra Consortium. Highlighted Projects: 2009-2010: The Foothills En Plein Air 2011: Sierra Lands Beef 2012: Expansion of Black Mtn Preserve with 2,500 acres of conservation Easements 2013: Establishment of Stockton Creek Preserve: Mariposa 2017-2020: Forest restoration of more than 2,000 acres 2020: Hornitos Ranch Conservation Easement 7,000 acres on the Merced River SFC's mission: The grasslands, foothills, and forests between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks provide land for farms and ranches, a home for native plants and wildlife, and a source of clean water. The Sierra Foothill Conservancy honors our natural and cultural heritage by protecting these resources and ensuring that present and future generations will continue to experience and enjoy the land in this region.
