Maggies Yorkshire
www.maggiescentres.orgMaggie's is a nationwide charity operating cancer care centres providing practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer. Built in the grounds of St James’s University Hospital in Leeds, Maggie’s Yorkshire will be the 25th Maggie’s Centre to be built. When the Centre officially opens in Autumn 2019, it will welcome over 30,000 visitors a year from across Yorkshire and beyond. All Maggie's Centres are designed by leading architects to be warm, welcoming and full of light and open space. Yorkshire will be no exception, with the design being led by multi-award winning architect, Heatherwick Studio, The Yorkshire Campaign Board, led by Martin Jenkins, Practice Senior Partner for Deloitte in Yorkshire & the North East, has been formed to raise £6 million to allow the building of a Maggie's Centre in the grounds of the hospital. There is still a further £500,000 of the campaign to raise, as this is how much it will cost to run the centre each year. We are actively seeking the support of the Leeds business sector to help bring a Maggie's Centre to the people of Yorkshire. Whether you are an individual, company or a charitable trust we would be delighted if you could please join us to help achieve a Maggie's for Yorkshire. There are various ways to get involved, including becoming an official Maggie's Yorkshire Partner. If you would like to get involved or have an initial conversation please do not hesitate to contact Martin, or Laura Riach, the Centre Fundraising Manager (laura.riach@maggiescentres.org). Either will be delighted to speak or meet with you to discuss our plans for Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Centre will provide much-needed care and support resource for the c150,000 people currently living with cancer in Yorkshire, as well as the c14,000 people who are diagnosed with cancer each year in the region. Together we will bring Maggie's to Yorkshire.
