The Spokane Valley Junior Soccer Association, dba “Spokane Rapids'', is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a volunteer board of directors. Spokane Rapids offers affordable recreational youth soccer serving roughly 1,700 area children per year. In addition, the organization maintains the soccer fields and facilities at Plante’s Ferry Sports Complex for the Spokane community. Established in 1986, Spokane Rapids is committed to making a positive impact on the community by connecting area youth and adults to affordable soccer. Multiple studies have linked organized sports to improved education, health, social and psychological outcomes for participating youth. Barriers to participation emerge early for lower-income children due to the rising cost of youth sports. Our goal is to remove financial barriers through player scholarships. We recognize, for many families however, obtaining financial assistance is just one obstacle to overcome when participating in youth sports. In addition to scholarships, Spokane Rapids provides players with free, high quality training. Players are able to take part in free footskills and goalie clinics; additionally individualized team placements are available to meet players’ and families’ unique needs.
