Vast Solar is an Australian renewable energy technology company on a mission deliver continuous carbon free energy for the world. The company was established in 2009 to develop and commercialise new generation concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) technology which we deploy, along with complementary technologies such as solar PV and wind (which are cheap but, by their nature, intermittent), to deliver continuous electricity, heat and energy storage solutions to industries and communities. CSP is one of the missing pieces in the global energy puzzle as it captures and stores energy from the sun during the day, then uses that energy to generate low-cost, clean, dispatchable electricity at night. Vast Solar's technology is proven, having operated for 32 months at its Pilot Plant in regional New South Wales, and it has won international awards. We are currently developing the 50MW North West Queensland Hybrid Power Project (NWQHPP) which will supply low-cost, clean, baseload electricity to mining and minerals processing operations in Mount Isa, Queensland. To support the NWQHPP, Vast Solar has established high-tech prototyping and manufacturing in Queensland which, together with the Project, will deliver hundreds of highly-skilled, local jobs.
