In Toastmasters, you learn by practicing how to prepare and give a speech, and you will receive helpful, friendly evaluations that help you improve with each talk. You can also practice impromptu, or "off the cuff", speaking for those situations when you can't prepare ahead of time. Speaking in this friendly club environment, with helpful feedback, will help you become more comfortable speaking in front of groups. Toastmasters can also help you develop leadership skills with opportunities to work with others. A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 50 people who meet once a week for about an tow hour or three. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.
