Symposium Global is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing liberal arts education to students in Asia and promoting cross-cultural dialogues. Symposium was founded in 2013 by two Columbia alumni who wanted to bring Core Curriculum style seminars to students in Asia who have limited access to humanities education. Symposium's seminars were originally modeled after Literature Humanities, one of the central pillars of the Core Curriculum of Columbia University. The project aimed to cultivate critical thinking skills in an interactive seminar context. Over the last 4 years, we have provided free opportunities for hundreds of high school and college students in New York City, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, India and Singapore to experience humanities seminars.
