Alakef Coffee Roasters was born out of a passion for coffee and the search for the “perfect cup.” Alyza Bohbot is the second generation owner of Alakef, which was started by her parents in Duluth, MN in 1990. The name "Alakef “ comes from an Israeli slang term meaning “hits the spot” or “the best.” Alakef is dedicated to providing customers with only the highest quality coffee beans from selected estates throughout the world. Alakef Coffee Roasters supports fair trade and sustainable agriculture. Towards this philosophy, we source specialty grade coffees with Rainforest Alliance certification to ensure comprehensive sustainable farm management that protects the environment for future generations of coffee growers. By partnering with these producers, we are providing the highest quality coffees, while reinforcing our commitment to the farmers and the environment. In addition to carefully selecting the origin of our coffees, we roast our coffee to order and then package and ship the coffee the same day. Our goal is to ensure that our customers receive only the freshest, perfectly roasted, coffee possible. City Girl Coffee Company was launched November of 2015 by Alakef Coffee Roasters. City Girl is a sustainable and responsible coffee company working to bring awareness and equality to the women of the coffee industry. We source our coffee from small, women owned or managed farms and co-operatives, and give a portion of every sale back to the organizations that support the success of women in their country of origin.
