Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is established by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Government of India, an Act of Parliament as an Institution of National Importance. RGIPT is co-promoted as an energy domain specific institute by six leading Oil Public Sector Units (ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL and HPCL) in association with the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB). RGIPT has established an Energy Centre named as “Energy Institute, Bengaluru” in Bengaluru which is envisioned to be a distinguished Energy Research Institute offering world-class research, and education. Energy Institute, Bengaluru is established in 2018 to nurture specialized talent pool in the energy sector, build capacity of the leadership team in the energy organizations, policy advocacy and thought leadership in the sector and create conducive ecosystem to support energy innovation and entrepreneurship. Presently, RGIPT-EIB is offering 04 new age M. Tech programmes named as “Electric Vehicle Technology”, “Renewable Energy”, “Power and Energy Systems Engineering”, “Energy Science and Technology” and Ph.D. programme in various disciplines from its temporary campus “NITTE MEENAKSHI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (NMIT), YALAHANKA”
