Campbell County Skills U (CCSU) is a multifaceted Adult Education program, serving adult learners throughout all of Campbell County in Northern Kentucky. Our primary service is offering free GED-prep classes facilitated by highly skilled instructors, and since CCSU opened its doors in 1973 (formerly Newport Adult Learning Center), 9203 students have earned GED credentials through our program. Our main campus at 30 West 8th Street (Newport) offers morning, afternoon, and evening classes to accommodate the variety of work schedules our adult learners may have. In addition to the instruction provided at our main campus, CCSU educators also commute to other locations within Campbell County to offer on-site classes. Teachers provide classes four days each week at the Brighton Center, Campbell County Detention Center, and the Restricted Custody Center. We have recently expanded our GED services to reach adults in Cold Spring and Alexandria by working with the Campbell County Public Library and Tyson Foods (offering on-site instruction for employees). We are also striving to meet the growing demand of online learning for adults who would like to prepare for the GED from home. During 2016, 2017, and 2018, CCSU was recognized for being a “Top 25” program in the state for Adult Education services, and a “Program of Excellence” in 2016 and 2018.
