wpa.salvationarmy.org

The Salvation Army is both a church and a social service organization. Founded in London, England by William Booth, today The Salvation Army serves in 130 countries worldwide and throughout the United States. The Western Pennsylvania Division provides a wide array of social services and programs for all ages in every zip code located within our 28-county territory. Through a vast network of Salvation Army leadership (ordained ministers who are pastors of The Salvation Army WPA Division's 39 Worship and Service Centers), staff, soldiers (church members), Advisory Board and Council members, and trained volunteers, The Salvation Army is able to keep administration costs to a minimum, which translates to approximately 80 cents of every dollar donated going directly towards providing critical assistance to those in need. Some of the services and programs provided by The Salvation Army include: disaster response and training, after-school enrichment programs, rent assistance, Christmas assistance (holiday meals, toys, etc.), summer day camps as well as week-long residential summer camping experiences for kids, WTAE project Bundle-up assistance for kids and senior citizens, youth and adult sports & recreation programs, dental centers, homeless outreach, career training, food pantries and soup kitchens, residential drug and alcohol treatment and much more!
