The Firebird Revitalization Fund is a debt and equity fund investing in non-performing loans and businesses in South Africa. We specialize in identifying businesses which are distressed but where active intervention, new capital, debt restructures and compromises, can remedy the distress. If businesses show a track record of good profits before current distress, and we can see a fix, we intervene to return them to fair value. Even good, well established businesses can get into a distressed situation – over-gearing, fraud, poor management, shareholder, funder and board disputes. The Fund targets deals with entry valuations at a discount to NAV and exit on a far higher traditional multiple valuations basis. We do this through balance sheet restructuring, compromises and active intervention using select partners. We partner with experts and have a network of investment professionals, business rescue practitioners and experienced CEO’s and CFO’s to parachute into every target business to restore value and create sustainable growth.
