Risen Christ Catholic School is a K-8, bilingual, multicultural and financially accessible school of excellence, educating children in mind, body, and spirit to live and lead in the example of Jesus Christ. Risen Christ Catholic School was formed in 1993 as the consolidation of five area parish schools: Holy Name, Holy Rosary, Incarnation, St. Albert the Great and St. Stephen’s, to preserve and strengthen Catholic education for new generations of children in the heart of south Minneapolis. We are an extraordinarily vibrant faith and learning community today because of the vision, prayers, support and hard work of countless teachers, staff, students, parents, volunteers and benefactors who believe that all children, regardless of circumstances or background, should have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of a Catholic school education. We are proud to be the first Catholic School in Minnesota providing a quality dual language education to a diverse community of learners K-8. Students develop full academic bi-literacy (Spanish/English) across all subjects through a culturally, rich faith and values-based curriculum. Fluency in more than one language and culture is central to being a global citizen and valuable to any future career. Two-way immersion or dual-language instruction is nationally recognized as the most effective approach to bilingual education. In the Fall 2014 students began receiving fifty percent of their instruction in Spanish and fifty percent in English every day. A grade will be added each year until the entire school is using the two-way immersion model by 2020. Risen Christ is one of the founding members of the Two-way Immersion Network for Catholic Schools, (TWIN-CS) an initiative of the Roche Center for Catholic Education at Boston College.
