Port Augusta Operations is transforming the former Port Augusta power station site into a bulk commodity export terminal known as Port Playford with an initial focus on iron ore. With more than $100 million invested into the regional and state economy will see the return of commercial shipping to Port Augusta for the first time in 50 years. Port Playford is strategically positioned close to critical road and rail infrastructure connecting it with key mineral provinces prior to being exported by sea.
