KDBIO was established in 2016 to distribute the FiberCell Systems hollow fibre bioreactor along with other complementary products and services. FiberCell hollow fibre bioreactors are used to produce significant amounts of concentrated secreted products: monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, EVs/exosomes or non-lytic virus. Mammalian cells reach higher densities than are possible in any other culture system which means greatly simplified chemically defined media can generally be used. The hollow fibre system is also used for antimicrobial in vitro PK/PD applications where bacteria, viruses or parasites can be contained in the hollow fibre cartridge and treated with different dosing regimens and concentration-time profiles to mimic human PK.
