www.nnas.ca

National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) coordinates a consistent national approach for internationally educated nurses (IENs) seeking registration/licensure to practise in Canadian jurisdictions. This includes: Registered Nurses (RNs); Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs); Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) in Ontario; and, Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) Functionally, the foundational work to bring the organization to a point of incorporation began in 2009. NNAS officially incorporated June 2012 and is a national body of member nurse regulatory bodies. From its beginnings, NNAS members developed a harmonized approach to the initial assessment of internationally educated nurses (IENs). This ensures greater transparency, timeliness and predictability across Canadian jurisdictions, in addition to applying rigorous standards for qualification assessment, in the interest of the public. The organization is governed by a 12 member Board of Directors made up of nursing representatives from regulatory bodies across Canada. Additional information is available at www.nnas.ca.
