Wootz' goal is to commercialize high performance carbon nanotube materials by providing the conductive fibers, high-performance fibers and functional composites markets with an intrinsically conducting high performance fiber. Current high-performance fibers offer various combinations of strength, low weight, flexibility, fire and/or chemical resistance and durability, but there is no high-performance fiber on the market today that has sufficient electrical conductivity for most electronic applications. The market has instead been hamstrung by the limitations of metallized high-performance fibers, which sacrifice some of those properties by adding metals that, while conductive, suffer the drawback of being heavier, less strong, less flexible, and prone to corrosion. Rather than continuing to design around material limitations, our customers in industry will benefit from an all-in-one uniquely high-performance fiber solution for their most demanding applications.
