Writer's Cramp Ink. (WC) is a publishing house dedicated to featuring new and established fiction and poetry writers from Canada and around the world. It began in 1998 as an experiment in attracting writers who found it impossible to secure publishing of their work, inn fact even a serious reading of their submissions. As a professional journalist and editor, I found myself in a position to create a website from scratch to address the frustrations of these struggling writers in order to give them hope and a voice in the worlds of fiction and poetry Being a professional editor, I excluded all pieces that were sub par, juvenile or simply poorly written and encouraged the talented, if insecure, writers who answered the call for submissions. Writer's Cramp acquired its own domain name in 2001 and since then the steady flow of excellent prose and poetry has continued unabated. A good many of those who began with Writer's Cramp have gone on to lucrative contracts in the established press, yet still offer WC right of first refusal. Into its 12th year, WC is still publishing new poetry and fiction by a core of dedicated and original members and by constantly emerging new writers, who know their work will gain a serious reading and a real chance of publication.
