Like the 1,300 other United Ways in the country, United Way of Fairfield County operates independently of United Way of America (UWA). We're an autonomous 501(c)(3) organization that is governed by a local all-volunteer Board of Directors. Additionally, we manage three volunteer committees (Councils), representing our community who meet year-round, monitoring the organization's investment in programs that help us achieve Bold Goals. The organization is committed to maintaining the most effective financial control practices available to ensure that any type of financial impropriety is prevented or quickly identified and appropriately addressed. The United Way of Fairfield County is an active member of the Better Business Bureau, which recognizes businesses for maintaining high ethical standards and accountability in their business practices.
