ArtHouse for Children and Youth

www.arthousehalton.com

ArtHouse – Connected Every Step of the Way Since 2009 ArtHouse has engaged over 10,000 vulnerable young kids by providing 717 Community Programs, delivered at 90 Subsidized Housing sites, Cooperatives, Community Hubs and Agency partnership locations throughout Halton. Mission - ArtHouse is a Halton charitable organization that provides FREE arts-based programs for children and youth age 7-17 who have little access to fee-related activities. We nurture the wellbeing of the Whole Child every step of the way – unconditionally – in a safe and supportive environment. Our Goal - to deliver consistent programming with strong role-model relationships. In addition to our Arts-related Programs, our work includes homework help, cooking, gardening, environmental education and maybe just a great conversation. ArtHouse is often the child's only extra-curricular activity and, we may well be the only outsider with whom they feel truly comfortable. Adapting to Covid - in Spring 2020 we initiated an emergency food program that kept us in touch with our families while we transitioned to virtual programming. The need for food continued and thanks to four local Restaurants, Food For Life and other food providers, we provided 3,500 freshly prepared weekly dinners to over 100 ArtHouse Families. In June 2020 we launched our Virtual Programming eventually reaching 1,000+ participants with 50 Zoom Programs. From Visual Arts to musicals to cooking and environmental offerings, attendance and retention was high. As we head "Back to the Future", we believe Covid 19 has created one of the strongest cases for the Arts that society has seen in decades. Our young people have suffered from a lack of social activity over the past two years – we will continue to be that important outside role model, using our Arts-based programming to show our children and youth "Pathways to Possibility" helping them dream about and plan their futures in this fast changing and exciting 21st century.
