www.unab.org.brThe United Nations Association-Brazil (UNAB) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1998 by the Brazilian entrepreneur Mario Garnero. Its main goal is to serve as a bridge between the United Nations (UN) and the Brazilian society by developing projects that seek to carry out the ideals and principles of the UN in Brazil. UNAB is affiliated to the World Federation of United Nations Association (WFUNA), the UN’s civil arm. Working together with WFUNA, UNAB continues its search for a better world through projects and programmes in the national and international level. Based on the work carried out by an international institution that has existed for more than 60 years and whose board membership consists of almost 200 countries, UNAB is devoted to propagating the importance of the UN by educating, inspiring and mobilizing society through the values established by the United Nations. Some of UNAB’s objectives are: stimulating the dialogue between the Brazilian civil society and the UN; disseminating information related to the UN; motivating the media to provide frequent and accurate coverage of the UN and its programs; supporting academic initiatives such as model UN conferences and seminars; and collaborating with other civil society organizations, politicians and institutions in order to identify the Brazilian needs and to promote interactions between these institutions and the UN.
