The Sri Lanka Medical Association is the oldest and most prestigious professional medical association in Sri Lanka. It is the national medical associations in Sri Lanka. The SLMA is the oldest professional medical association in Asia and Australasia with a history dating from 1887 with the then 'The Ceylon Branch of The British Medical Association' finally evolving into the 'Sri Lanka Medical Association' in 1972.
