New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre
www.nzagrc.org.nzThe NZAGRC was created in 2009 as a partnership between the leading New Zealand research providers working on agricultural greenhouse gases and the Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium. The NZAGRC is fully funded by the New Zealand government with a mission of providing knowledge, technologies and practices which grow agriculture's ability to create wealth for New Zealand in a carbon-constrained world. The NZAGRC is investing NZ$48.5 million over 10 years into New Zealand agricultural greenhouse gas emissions research. Its vision is to be an internationally renowned centre for research and development into agricultural greenhouse gas mitigation solutions. Through its science investment, the NZAGRC also aims to improve coordination of research in this area and to build New Zealand's research capacity by supporting students, early career scientists, technicians and senior scientists. In addition to capability building through the science programme, the NZAGRC also supports summer, Masters and PhD students in New Zealand universities through its Student Scholarship Fund. The NZAGRC also plays a major role in the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA); the NZAGRC Director is the co-chair of the GRA’s Livestock Research Group and the NZAGRC administers the New Zealand Government’s science investment in support of the GRA. In addition, the NZAGRC administers the LEARN award scheme, which seeks to build capability in developing countries through technical training, PhD and Postdoctoral scholarships and that enables senior scientist exchanges across GRA member countries.
