Clarksville Connected Utilities (CCU) is a municipally owned utility belonging to the people of Clarksville, Arkansas. The population of Clarksville was 9,251 as of the last census and has experienced consistent growth for the last few decades. The utility currently provides electric, water, wastewater and broadband services to the community of Clarksville on a retail level. In addition, CCU serves water to an additional eight (8) wholesale water systems, which means that we actually serve to a population of approximately 28,000 in the Arkansas River Valley area. Clarksville is the first city in the state of Arkansas whose internal energy needs are being met with 100% solar/renewable energy. The utility also has enough non emitting power generation resources in its supply that in 2019 over 60% of the entire demand of the utility was met with renewable energy. CCU is also in the process is expanding its existing fiber optic network to connect homes and businesses. All of the local anchor intuitions have been connected for over 2 years and up to 10 Gbps speeds. Gig speeds will also be available for homes and business in the community at affordable prices in March 2020.
