What Is The Chamber? The Spencer County Chamber of Commerce is a major force in our community's economic prosperity and outstanding lifestyle. A not-for-profit membership organization, The Chamber provides the leadership to achieve a diverse balanced economy that enhances the quality of living and working in Spencer County. Our community enjoys "Good Life" and "Good Business." History The Spencer County Chamber of Commerce was incorporated November 25th 1958. Founding members where Thomas B. Follis, Charles W. Spears Jr., and Robert Carrithers. They were later joined by M. H. Skaggs, Irl Greenwell, Barkley Walker, and Edward Bennett. These seven people made up the first executive committee. The Chamber of Commerce building also known as the community center was once a Chrysler Plymouth Dealership. After that business closed the building was donated by the Carroll D. Henry family in honor of Charles Wood Henry. His Name still resides in the hallway of the building. MISSION STATEMENT The Mission of the Spencer County Chamber of Commerce is to champion pride as well as encourage economic growth in our county by bonding together our citizens, businesses and our government as a whole.
