WAAL’s mission is to be there for the countless animals in the Wichita and surrounding area who are abused, neglected and abandoned each year. Safe Paws Alliance (SPA) Program provides safe housing to pets of owners who are facing domestic violence or veterans who need to enter inpatient treatment. This ensures everyone’s safety and wellbeing, at no cost to the owner. WAAL provides food donations to four area food banks on a monthly basis and our Spay It Forward program provides low-income families vouchers for deeply discounted spay/neuter services. Our welfare investigators respond to abuse/neglect concerns from the public and regularly donate emergency pet food, dog houses and other supplies to needy individuals; we work closely with animal control to hold those breaking the law accountable and get abused animals to safety.
