We are a non-for-profit (IRS: 501(c)3) organization that enables access to Dragon Boat Paddling experience for people across the Chicago metropolitan area. Our Mission is to promote and expand the sport of dragon boating in the Chicagoland and to provide a fun, unique, supportive and healthy activity to a diverse community of people with varied abilities and ambitions. We are a sponsor in kind to the Chicago Chinatown Race for Literacy annually. Our coaches, steers people and paddlers place a high level of focus on water safety first and foremost. Our club comprises teams of paddlers with common interests like Adaptive Adventures’: Chicago Team Blue, Chinatown’s Community Team: Fury; Recreational/Competitive (Experienced): Chicago Blades; and our newest team: Chicago Sirens (Women’s Open). Greater Chicago has a fleet of three 20-person Champion Dragon Boats. We named our fleet “Harmony”, “Inspiration” and “Diversity” as they represent our firm belief in the benefits of leveraging our diverse community strengths. We invite you to experience Dragon Boat Paddling on the historic Chicago River. We provide instructions and equipment for groups interested in team-building activities.
