Volunteer UP Legal Clinic
www.voadv.orgThe Volunteer UP Legal Clinic is an initiative by Volunteers of America Delaware Valley to provide much-needed legal assistance to economically disadvantaged clients and help remove legal barriers to their success. We connect clients with attorneys who volunteer to provide pro bono legal services and otherwise aid clients in navigating governmental and legal services available in Camden and Southern New Jersey. The Clinic assists clients with many types of legal issues that are common to low-income persons, including, but not limited to: bankruptcy, civil rights, drivers’ license restorations, employment, expungements, family law, government benefits, health care, immigration, landlord-tenant, municipal court fines, wills, estates, probate, & powers of attorney, and certain criminal matters. Our staff meets with clients who seek legal services to determine their specific legal needs and makes appropriate referrals to volunteer lawyers according to areas of expertise and geography. This screening process allows for our pro bono attorneys to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of their volunteer time. Volunteer attorneys also support the Clinic by serving as mentors or subject matter experts to other volunteer Clinic attorneys or by speaking at community legal education seminars. Clinic partners can further the mission of the Clinic by, among other things, recruiting volunteer attorneys and providing financial support to offset Clinic and/or client expenses. If you are interested in supporting the Clinic in any way, please contact us legalclinic@voadv.org.
