baru
www.baru.com.auProblem: We have grown up in a society that seems so obsessed with consumerism and urbanization. From the everyday focus on bigger cans of Coke and needing fifteen pairs of shoes to the bigger picture of ever-growing skyscrapers, apartment blocks and cities. We have become so impatient. Everything must be right now, right here. And is anyone surprised that our mental health has suffered? For young people today, feelings of anxiety, stress and depression are on the rise. Studies have shown that we are hurting ourselves as a result of both increased urbanization and consumerism. We are all hurting but what is hurting us is also hurting our planet. Solution: Recycle, recover, creation for exploration. Instead of complaining about the problem, we have come up with a solution. We are taking plastic from our oceans and our landfill and turning it into clothes. Clothes that don’t just fall apart in 20 minutes and need to be replaced. We’ve blended recycled yarn with stubborn plastic bottles and made something long-lasting. Something that is truly incredible. And once we’ve paid our loans back and turned a profit, we’ve pledged 80% of it to fund adventures out into the great unknown. From grey cities to green trees and shimmering stars. Camping, hiking, and road trips for young people struggling with their own social pressures and mental health. baru is reversing the cycle. We’re sick of the bad - we think it’s time for some of the good.
