Established in 2008, AFCA is one of the very few Latina founded and led organizations of its mission and size in the state of Colorado — and the country — fighting systemic racism in the conservation and outdoor recreation workspaces, leveraging arts and culture for DEI gains. We do this through three award winning flagship programs : (1) our Promotores Verdes conservation corps (nature health workers) (2) the annual Latino Eco Festival convening of bipoc conservation and creatives leadership (now in its 13th edition) — and a publishing arm/documenting platform dedicated to advancing diversity and conservation in publishing.
