Soil Health Institute
www.soilhealthinstitute.orgThe mission of the Soil Health Institute is to safeguard and enhance the vitality and productivity of soil through scientific research and advancement. In 2013, The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation and Farm Foundation, NFP, convened agricultural thought leaders - including farmers, ranchers, and researchers from government agencies and non-governmental organizations - to examine the current state of our soil. This group identified diverse and complex issues and the need for a collaborative organization to provide a scientific basis for soil health. The Soil Health Institute is that organization. With efforts in Research; Measurements, Standards & Assessment; Economics; Informed Policy; and Communications & Education, the Institute envisions a future in which soil health is the foundation for managing our natural resources. Through soil health, we can improve water quality, increase water quantity, adapt to and mitigate climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve farm economies, and provide pollinator and wildlife habitat.
