The TRIAD Trust is nonprofit health and life-skills education organization that works in regions of the world with this highest prevalence of poverty and health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, Gender-Based Violence, and Substance Abuse. Since 2007, TRIAD has been training local leaders to develop and run sustainable interactive health and life-skills education programs. Our programs use performing arts and sports to engage and empower vulnerable youth to choose behaviors that help them lead healthy lives. Since first partnering with local stakeholders in the rural Nkomazi region of South Africa – ground zero for HIV/AIDS in the world with more than 40% of the population HIV positive and where 80% unemployment stifles opportunity— TRIAD has trained more than 50 facilitators and coaches, reaching more than 10,000 youth in ongoing programming through ImprovED, our flagship program. TRIAD’s award-winning ImprovED program has been recognized by the International AIDS Society and Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, and featured on the front page of New York Times and by PBS, NPR, and in a documentary produced by ESPN in conjunction with the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In 2014, TRIAD was invited to bring its innovative programs and demonstrated effectiveness to new partners in Haiti.
