Sedewa is a private initiative for research and development of new agricultural technology based at the Son Durí organic farm in the Balearic Islands, Spain. We are actively developing a new agricultural robot for solar powered soil cultivation and tillage. Our novel and innovative traction mechanism achieves traction on loose ground by small retractable small anchors instead of ballasted tires. This effectively replaces the conventional tractor, greatly reduces the compaction of the soil and as such preserves biodiversity and porosity of the cultivated soil, resulting in faster growth, healthier plants and better crop yields. Due to the improved efficiency of this novel traction mechanism on loose soil, the UTOPUS Agricultural Robot can be powered by renewable energy sources like on board solar panels, or from battery power.
