The MultiCulti book club is a virtual book club that was founded in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis with the aim of encouraging people to read books on topics such as translation, linguistics, globalization, and multicultural aspects and discuss them together. Anyone is invited to participate. We meet every first Monday of the month, at 18:30 CET, on-line. The books we read are chosen by the club members, one or two months in advance. The club's rules are: 1. Anyone can join the club. 2. Anyone can suggest books to read. 3. The book that we will discuss is voted by the group. 4. The club meets once per month. 5. First-timers at the club introduce themselves before the discussion starts. 6. Before you come to the club, try to read at least part of the book. 7. Anyone can talk during the book club but we all make sure everyone’s voice can be heard. 8. Bring drinks, snacks, your dinner, whatever you like, this is an informal event, no one will look weird at you if you do.
