Wide Days
www.widedays.comWide Days was launched in 2010 and is hosted every April in Edinburgh by Wide Events CIC (formerly Born To Be Wide CIC). A past winner Best Networking Event at the Yearly Music Convention Awards, in 2019 welcomed 360 delegates from across the UK, Europe and North America + over 1000 people for the showcase and Festival Takeover. An additional 1000 people attended the evening showcases and the final night's Festival Takeover, which saw three Scottish festivals each programme a stage. Since 2017 the convention has ensured it has a gender-balanced speaker programme building on Wide Days 2016, when the majority of showcase acts were fronted by women. It was the first Scottish event to join PRS Foundation’s Keychange initiative. Acts who have previously showcased at Wide Days include Be Charlotte, Catholic Action, Fatherson, Rachel Sermanni, The Ninth Wave, , Scottish Album of the Year Award winner Kathryn Joseph and the Mercury-nominated C Duncan. Honeyblood, PAWS and Siobhan Wilson, all signed record deals as a result of their performances. Parent company, Wide Events CIC, has its origins in the Born To Be Wide evenings launched in 2004. These started out as social gathering for people working in the local music scene and have gone on to host more than 150 seminars, Q&As and talk shows, partnering with a diverse range of organisations. Wide Events CIC also stages music business seminars, showcases and the Off The Record youth events, as well as bespoke panels for other organisations.
