The Iraqi Student Project (ISP) is a grass-roots effort to help young Iraqis acquire the education they need to participate in rebuilding their country. ISP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. There are currently 47 Iraqi students under ISP sponsorship studying at 35 college/universities across the US. Fourteen will graduate in May/June 2012. Nine more (the Class of 2016) are in preparation in Damascus, Syria, under the tutelage of the founders and volunteer teachers from the US, the UK, and around the world.. Our Mission: The Iraqi Student Project seeks to make undergraduate education possible for qualified students who were studying in Iraq, are unable to continue their education because of the violence, and intend to return and contribute to the rebuilding of Iraq as soon as it is safe to do so. These students are recommended for study without regard to gender, nationality, religion or ethnicity. In the United States, ISP works with colleges and universities to secure tuition waivers or full scholarships, and with local communities to build support groups for each student.
