Centre for Armed Violence Reduction

www.armedviolencereduction.org

The Centre for Armed Violence Reduction partners with governments and civil society around the world to achieve regional and national armed violence reduction goals. We bring together officials and key actors to tackle gun violence prevention using a ‘whole of government’ approach. The Centre finds donors and provides training, capacity-building, technical expertise and tools to help diagnose and fill legislative, technical and policy gaps. Our evidence-based research and analysis is made actionable with context-specific, policy recommendations determined by consensus. We deliver affordable, sustainable programmes, always in close collaboration with local stakeholders. We are experts in arms control, gun violence prevention, sustainable development and security. We implement every project with accountability, transparency and integrity. Founding partners of the Centre are Act for Peace – international aid agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia and GunPolicy.org, hosted at the Sydney School of Public Health, The University of Sydney. The founding directors and staff of the Centre have many years of experience designing and running development programmes around the world (Act for Peace) and armed violence reduction research, policy and monitoring tools (GunPolicy.org).
