The INCiTE summer school is a partnership of four world-class research institutions: The University of Edinburgh, The University of Sydney, Nanyang Technological University Singapore and University of Amsterdam. The INCiTE Network is also working in conjunction with the Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE), an institutional unit of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, to connect students from network institutions with students drawn from a select group of institutions located within Jiangsu Province. The global workplace is changing rapidly, and higher education must adapt to provide students with the necessary skills and experience to succeed. The INCiTE Summer School is responding to this need by creating opportunities for students to intelligently engage with real global challenges, and to build business models which can offer practical solutions. The INCiTE Summer School focuses on internationalisation, intercultural competence, entrepreneurship, design thinking, social innovation and the delivery of virtual experiences to all types of students (including those with disabilities). The ultimate goal? To create an environment where students can develop core skills and competencies which will enhance their future employability as well as prepare them to be global citizens. The first summer school will be held in July 2019 in Suzhou, China, hosted on the campus of Soochow University. At the beginning of the summer school, students will be placed into multicultural teams comprised of students from INCiTE institutions and JESIE. Each team will have two weeks to build a solution-oriented business model from the ground up. The teams will come together on the final day of the summer school to pitch their global challenge and business model to an audience of their peers, academics, local business and community leaders, and corporate sponsors.
