BLOG is an organization started in Groningen, Netherlands. It is an initiative that serves as a safe space and community for women of ethnic African and Caribbean descent living in Groningen (Netherlands). Our main goal is to create a home away from home and a platform that allows our members to share experiences, connect with, empower, and support each other. We seek to raise awareness when necessary and educate the public on topical and social issues that affect us. Furthermore, we are committed to providing members with opportunities across vast areas in order to contribute to their general well-being and advancement. BLOG is inclusive of all women of African and Caribbean descent in as such that it is anti-ableist and queer-inclusive. We achieve our goals by organizing three main types of events for both members and non-members: educational, social, and networking events. Our educational events seek to raise awareness and educate the public on topical and social issues that affect our community. Our social events aim to create a safe space for members and allow us to provide, help, encouragement, refuge, and support for members who need it. Our networking events are organized to provide our members with a vast array of opportunities across different sectors and facilitate access to sectors that will allow for their social and economic advancement, amongst other things. Three main values form the basis of our organization and will be used to achieve our goals: respect, support, and empowerment.
