HISTORY KPI was founded in 2008 by three-time Olympian, Tracy Evans. KPI is based on the belief that sport can be a powerful catalyst for social change. All programming promotes non-discrimination and is rooted in the core values of the Olympic movement: Excellence, Friendship and Fair Play. IMPACT: KPI takes a one-village-at-a-time approach, embedding itself in communities, partnering with local schools and creating sustainable programs that become part of village life, resulting in an extended impact reaching over 5,000 community members, parents, teachers, and coaches. KPI’s uniquely inclusive mixed gender approach is based on an understanding that in order to empower girls, boys must play a meaningful role in the process. Our flagship Let’s Play Fair (LPF) program currently operates in the rural village of Gatagara, Rwanda which: • Provides over 800 hours of year-round, sports based programming promoting gender equity. • Every week directly serves over 112 boys and girls, ages 7–18 years old from four local partner schools. • Engages 12 locally trained coaches who help run and oversee the program. • Offers weekly Community Days to an additional 1000 boys and girls sharing the KPI Olympic Values and teaching the development of new pro-social relationships. GROWTH As KPI transitions the operations of the LPF program to the local staff in Rwanda by 2016, we will expand our reach to more Rwandan communities and other countries impacted by genocide to replicate the success of our LPF program in Gatagara. Additionally, Kids Play Int’l will launch a comprehensive Girls Dream Big program to offer further mentorship, skills training, and educational support for high-performing, at-risk girls to provide them the same opportunities to succeed in life. KPI also organizes annual volunteer trips, led by our Olympic Athlete Ambassadors, that provide rewarding experiences to meet, interact and inspire the Let’s Play Fair participants.
