www.lngc.orgThe Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati champions the development of literacy in the individual, the family, the workplace, the school and the community by raising awareness, improving access,and serving as a catalyst for literacy efforts. Since 1998, The Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati has served as a contact center for adult literacy, providing a full-time referral hotline (621-READ) for prospective tutors and learners. The Network acts as an umbrella agency for over 60 sites in Greater Cincinnati where adults may go to improve their basic education and literacy skills. The Network provides free Adult and Children’s Basic Reading Classes for people with profound reading disabilities and a Tutor Training program for adult learners. It also includes Cincinnati Reads, which recruits and trains reading tutors to work one-on-one with K-4th grade students. The Literacy Network collaborates with 60 adult learning sites (located in public school systems, churches, community centers, libraries, hospitals and workplaces) and provides services to over 35 elementary schools in the Cincinnati Public School system.
