PKD Australia
www.pkdaustralia.orgPKD Australia is dedicated to finding treatment and a cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease to improve the lives of those it affects. We do this by funding research as well as developing support, awareness and advocacy for the disease. Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) affects around 25,000 Australians, and 12 million people globally. It is the most common inherited cystic kidney disease, which causes thousands of cysts (fluid filled sacs) to grow in the kidneys. These cysts grow gradually over time, enlarging the kidneys and making it harder for them to function properly. In Australia, PKD accounts for 6% of all people diagnosed with kidney failure.
