The Mexican Economic History Association (AMHE) was founded in the last months of 1998 to stimulate and promote teaching, research, publishing and diffusion of topics related to the discipline, as well as to contribute to the preservation of essential historical sources for the economic history of Mexico. AMHE promotes the publication of new research in economic history, as well as the rescue of sources and archives that are fundamental for the advancement of the discipline. It also supports workgroups of historical statistics. AMHE has a webpage through which it diffuses interesting information for her members and the broader public. In 2001, AMHE created the "Luis Chávez Orozco" award to the best licentiate thesis and the "Fernando Rosenzweig" award to the best master's thesis in topics of economic history. This awards are delivered during the Congresses of the Association. AMHE is affiliated to the International Association of Economic History (IEHA) and keeps close links with the fellow associations of Argentina, Brazil, the Caribbean, Colombia, Chile, Portugal, Spain and Uruguay. It also aims to strengthen its links with other economic history groups in Latin America and other economic history associations in the United States, Canada and Europe. AMHE's activities are coordinated by the president, the secretary, the treasurer and the members of the executive board.
