The Coimbra City Council's mission is to define and implement policies to defend the interests and needs of the local population. In this sense, it is responsible for promoting the development of the municipality in all areas of life, such as health, education, social action and housing, environment and basic sanitation, spatial planning and urbanism, transport and communications, public water supply, sports and culture, consumer protection and civil protection.
