Caitlin Faron launched Shine Design + Distribution in 2009 with the concept that lighting design should be personalized and accessible - a source of inspiration rather than confusion. We have remained faithful to that concept by offering a menu of services ranging from simple consulting to full scale design and project management. For larger projects we will provide a comprehensive lighting plan and technical documents, as well as ongoing coordination throughout the planning and installation. On smaller scale projects, it can be a matter of reviewing an existing electrical plan and making recommendations for placement and fixture choices. Even small adjustments result in big improvements and having plans tweaked prior to construction can save on construction costs in the long run. Our philosophy, that light is a design element which should be considered along with the architecture, allows it to be geared to site specific solutions and the client's taste while integrating it into the space. Whenever possible, interior and exterior lighting should be planned simultaneously so that all elements of the property share a compatible point of view. Along with extending living spaces outdoors comes the responsibility of preventing light trespass, and it's important to be mindful of neighbors, wildlife and Dark Skies ordinances to achieve lighting which is effective without being intrusive. In addition to the design side of the business we provide product distribution, offering an alternative to big supply houses, while working closely with clients throughout the process.
