The Alt Club

www.thealtclub.com

The Alt Club had been a long time coming when the pandemic hit. What had started as something we’d talked about that one time - ‘we can call it The Breakdown’ - had percolated over time, occasionally becoming an itch so irresistible to scratch that we were forced to jot down a couple more ideas on a forgotten, dog-eared piece of paper every now and again. It once, very briefly, existed as ‘God Save The Scene’ until a domain name checker broke our hearts and, knowing that nothing would ever make us feel as effervescent, forced us to keep thinking. We’d randomly shout things out at each as we chopped carrots, or cleaned windows - ‘Scene Simmons’ popped up once - but it remained out of reach. It was fine, because we ‘wouldn’t have the time to get it off the ground’ anyway - until the world had a different plan and time was no longer an issue. Having worked on web and graphic in design studios for over a decade, Matt White took ownership of our brand in all the digital spaces. Producing a beautiful website with social templates to match, we managed to present our idea in a very polished way. I stuck with words. Having written reviews and features for Women’s Health, Saltwater Girl Magazine, Punktastic, Bring The Noise UK and Academy Music Group over the years, I used my experience and understanding to create opportunities and put the finished result on ‘paper’. Ultimately, The Alt Club exists because of our love for music. We might not be straightening our hair half to death anymore, but we’re scene kids at heart and we want to continue honouring the music that shaped us in many ways, by sharing it with all of you.
