Puertas Abiertas is a nonprofit organization located in Napa Valley, California serving over 450 families every year. The mission is to work hand in hand with Latinos to inspire and achieve healthy living, self-sufficiency and opportunities for leadership and community engagement. Puertas Abiertas was formed as a program to bridge the gap between County service providers and Spanish speaking residents. In 2005, it became an independent 501(c)(3). Today, Puertas Abiertas continues to connect clients to community resources in addition to providing self-sufficiency, health and life skills programs, and educational classes focused on literacy and English language development for adult learners. Successful programs include Middle School Connections, Plaza Comunitaria, and VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) among others.
