The World Bank-funded East Africa Public Health Laboratory Network (EAPHLN) aims to establish a network of efficient, high quality, accessible public health laboratories for the diagnosis and surveillance of tuberculosis (TB) and other communicable diseases. EAPHLN is a joint effort by East African Community (EAC) countries to: ~Enhance access to diagnostic services for vulnerable groups. ~Improve capacity to provide special diagnostic services and drug resistance monitoring. ~Improve capacity to disease surveillance and emergency preparedness of public health events. ~Establish a platform for conducting training and research.
